Class Leveling Specs in MoP

Fasten your seatbelts, World of Warcraftians!  The next two months are going to be a true and glorious gong show.  You’ve got Patch 5.0.4 currently running on the PTR, which is going to result in players undergoing more changes than a Wachowski brother.  In a few weeks, (and with the lastest news of WoW losing 1.1 Million Subscribers, probably sooner) that patch is going to be pushed to the Live server.  A few weeks after that, we will be up to our eyeballs in Pandas when Mists of Pandaria launches.

Now there are two things that will become an immediate concern – getting used to the new class changes (or revamps in the case of Warlocks – I mean Jeez dude), and leveling your character to the new level limit of 90.  Luckily, the man among men known as Preach has some suggestions as far as what spec you should use after the 5.0 class changes, when you want to start leveling in Mists of Pandaria.  He has put together two Youtube videos:

– One video for the Mage, Warlock, Shaman, Rogue and Warrior:

– And a video for the Hunter, Paladin, Priest, Druid, Deathknight and Monk:

Frost Death Knight In Patch 5.0

Time for you to chill!

This post is going to be short and sweet.  I had been concerned about the earlier state of Frost DK‘s in the beta.  However, after checking out this recent video I’m much less tense.  Frost Death Knights in 5.0 is going to be, well, at the very least playable and at the very most awesome.  Check out the latest video from the MoP Beta for talents, glyphs, and so on.

There is another reason that I was excited about the 5.0 changes to the Death Knight, and I’m glad to see it go live.

I find your lack of faith… disturbing.

FORCE CHOKE BITCHES!

That is all.

How to DPS as an Arms Warrior in Patch 4.3

I currently don’t raid.  However, the Convert to Raid podcast is so good, I listen to it anyway.  You should too.

Anyways, the CtR crew had Torage on the show and I will pause for a moment to explain the significance of this.  Torage is a Fury Warrior guru.  He inspired me to keep rocking in the free world.

Torage has switched over to Arms.  *record scratch*

He explained that Fury is quite bursty, and somewhat dependant on the RNG.  You (and by you I mean Torage, ’cause I sure as Hell won’t be) could crank out 60k dps on one pull, and 20k on the next.  Subsequent patches have reduced the dual weilding bonus for Fury, to the point where Fury and Arms are mathematically doing about the same damage.  However, Arms can do it more consistantly.  Henceforth, it made sense to switch.

Torage then made a video to explain the transition, and to help folks out with making the most of Arms fighting.  I think you should watch it.

Seriously.  Watch the damn video.

Ask Jeeves – Lovely Charms

Whether you’re just trying to make your life a little easier by saving up for your holiday Daily Quests, or looking to buy (and sell?) the holiday mount, “Love is in the Air” usually means that you’re going to be doing some grinding.  Sadly, this grinding does not involve a Significant Other, or even a picture of the Significant Other.
Hawt.

No, this type of grinding involves killing green (or better) mobs to get Lovely Charms.  Ten of these bad boys combine to make a Lovely Charm Bracelet, which sells to the holiday vendor for a Love Token, which is then used… you know what?  Screw it.  You know how this works by now.  If you didn’t, you wouldn’t be farming the Charms in the first place.

Which begs the question:  Where the Hell does one go to farm Lovely Charms?

I’m glad you asked.  Seriously.  It gives me something to write about.

– Mjordin Combatants on Savage Ledge:  The training ground north of Jotunheim in Icecrown is filled with scrappy gentlemen with an impressive respawn rate.  The one drawback to this spot is that it’s open world, which means anyone can come by and try to scoop up the mobs.  On a high pop server, this may be more of an issue.  If you’re planning on using this spot, try to hit it up on off-hours.

– Trogs in Fractured Front, Deepholm:  Another open world spot, but one that is quick to get to.  The trogs are quite plentiful, but they have a bit of a longer respawn rate and take a little longer to kill.  However, if you loot these bad boys you can make some gold off the drops.  As the video shows, a Potion of Treasure Finding can really jack up your gold making potential.

–  Unstable Corruptions in Throne of Tides:  There are those who say that this is the best place to farm Lovely Charms.  Claims of 100 charms in ten minutes have often been reported.  However, most people who are not rocking raid gear (or a 390+ gear score) will not be able to get to the Unstable Corruptions solo.  To reach them, you have to kill the first boss of the zone:  Lady Naz’jar.  That bitch does not play around, but she does play for keeps.  If you can get someone to help kill her and then make your way to the Unstable Corruptions, you’ll be sitting pretty.

– Slags in Halls of Lightning:  The best place to farm the Lovely Charms, IMO.  Fast respawns, plenty of non-elite mobs to mow down, low hp, and easy to get to.  It’s also in an instance, so you won’t be fighting anyone else for the respawns.

(Edit:  There’s talk that the slags may have been nerfed.  If that’s the case, you might want to check out Throne of Tides.)

Good luck with whatever your plans are for the bracelets.  Have fun killing mobs for hours upon mind-numbing hours.

Patch 4.3 – The New Darkmoon Faire

Patch 4.3 is only a few weeks away (doesn’t it seem like I’m always saying this?  Cause it feels like I’m always saying this.)  Another sweet piece coming out with the patch is the new Darkmoon Faire Island.  No, this isn’t a new level in some Super Mario game.  It’s the Darkmoon Faire like you’ve never seen it before (and by that I mean it’s good for something other than the Inscription decks.)
Basically it breaks down like this:  you play the various carny games and you get tickets.  You then use those tickets to buy vanity pets, vanity mounts, vanity (read: transmogrification) gear, and some heirloom items.
My thoughts:  people ragged on how Mists of Pandaria is stupid, campy, geared for kids and “those dirty casuals”, yet these same people are going to trip over themselves just so they can play dress up in old raid gear. OMG PRETTY!
Anyhow, it’s a nice diversion and some easy achievement points.
