Death Knight Transmog

Okay, I know you came here for the sweet sweet eye candy, but I have something else to talk about first.

Calm down, the pics are coming.

MMO Champion posted a question that was asked of the Blizz Developers regarding the limit of only one Death Knight per server:

Any idea when we might see this lifted? I’ve seen on MMO-Champ a few times where it’s been stated this limitation is outdated and no longer needed. It was also said that they likely will remove it, I’m just wondering if there is any sort of time frame for this planned at all?

I’d really enjoy rolling another Death Knight on my home server, on the Horde side, just for the benefit of heirloom gear and to experience the horde storylines and what not, hence the inquiry.

This is a valid question.  The fact that we’re two expansions removed from the introduction of DK’s, and with a higher level cap, should offset the boo hooing that usually comes with mentioning DK’s at all.  “But they get to start off at level 55!  They leave their starter zone with blue gear!  I have far too much sand in my vagina!”  You know, the usual complaints from Death Knight haters.

The Blue Post reply was, well…

Honestly, there’s no update I can provide on when this will be lifted, but we’re aware of the feedback. It may be a possibility for the future though.

Same shit different day.

And now what you have been waiting for – SWEET DK TRANSMOG SETS OMG!!1!

Here’s what Herculano was wearing before:

Before1 Before2

Kinda looks like a post-apocalyptic hockey player, or Casey Jones from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (sans trusty baseball bat of course).

Now here’s the look he rocks currently –

After1 After2

I’m not a big fan of the dress kilt, but it’s tough to find pants that go with this outfit.

Here’s my question to all both of my readers:  Which one do you prefer?  Before?  After?  Neither?

Leave me a comment below!  TGIF!

Titles Are Punny

You can’t label me, bro.

If I hadn’t been so lazy this week (the heat, I blame the heat) my recent achievements would have seemed a little more impressive since I did all of this in a single week.  But folks, these are the cards I’ve been dealt and will therefore shuffle them in my hand and try to slap on my poker face.

My p-p-p-p-poker face.

The week was all about titles.  Titles are always a fun little way to change things on your character.  I managed to pick up three of them in a little over a week.

I can be Extremis…ly patient.

The first title <Name> “the Patient” was one I wasn’t even consciously trying to get.  I was running an endless stream of Hour of Twilight PUGs, and just got the title.  It was a side-effect of running too many PUGs, but unlike lowered self-esteem and hemorrhoids this was actually a side-effect worth getting.

Taking fashion to the Extremis.

The “Flame Warden” title wasn’t hard to get.  If you can put in the time, you can get this title.  I mean, completing the Midsummer Fire Festival isn’t all that tough to do.  As long as you can find enough fires to Honor or Desecrate, Flame Warden is one of the easier titles to grab.  I still say the title should be <Name> “Pees on Fires”, but that’s why I’m not working for Blizzard.  Well, that and the restraining order, but I’m legally prohibited from discussing the issue.

I am Extremis-ly proud of this title.

Getting the title <Name> “of the Shattered Sun” was a multi-stage process.  First, you need to have Exalted status with the Shattered Sun Offensive.  There’s two ways to get there – either run dailies on the Isle of Quel’Danas, or run Magisters’ Terrace, like, a whole lot.  I went with Plan B for a few reasons:

  • There was no limit on how often I could run it every day.  I would still get decent rep by running Regular versions of the instance, so I’d start with a Heroic and then switch to Regular until I was bored.
  • I was getting Faction rep through tabards.  In fact, Boss kills were giving me more rep (while wearing the appropriate tabard) than I was getting with the Shattered Sun Offensive.  I managed to get Exalted with Gilneas, Ironforge, and Gnomeregan while grinding SSO rep.  It’s always nice when you can get two things done at the same time.
  • Transmog Gear was plentiful.  I picked up the Sun-Forged Cleaver for myself, and farmed a great deal of greens that sold quite nicely on the Auction House.  If you have to grind rep, you might as well make some gold at the same time.
  • Sweet Chicken Mount.  There’s a 4% drop rate on the Swift White Hawkstrider, obtainable only in Heroic mode.  I managed to pick up this bird on my last Heroic run.

Ohhhh, what have we here?

Achievement unlocked! Another mount I will never use!

My one-eyed Willy looks on in disgust. No, not that one.  I’m talking about the pet. Pervs.

Congrats on Exalted with SSO.  Now you just have to get a single quest where the dude rubs his hand across his palm and says “Can u spare gold plz?  For the cause, dude.”

One.  Thousand.  Gold.

Are you shitting me? I’ve paid less for epic fucking mounts!  When Quel’Danas was considered “end game” back in the Burning Crusade days, beggers would spout mighty dirty erections whenever they saw someone with the “of the Shattered Sun” title.  It meant that person had waaaay too much gold, and had no problem throwing it away.

Which reminds me – I am now broke.  Maybe I’ll run MT one more time for some sweet Transmog gear.

It’s All About The Purples

I guess I picked this Judgement armor because it looked like a super hero costume.  Like Spider-Man with knives on his shoulders.  But whatever, it’s Outland Heroic dungeons which means lockout, which means it takes some time to assemble the gear.

HeadMask of Penance (BoP from Mekgineer Steamrigger in Normal and Heroic Steamvault, at a 22% drop rate)
ShouldersJustice Bearer’s Pauldrons (BoP from Omor the Unscarred in Heroic Ramparts at a 16% drop rate)
ChestBreastplate of Many Graces (BoP from Grandmaster Vorpil in Normal and Heroic Shadow Labyrinth, at a 17% drop rate)
WristsVirtue Bearer’s Vambraces (BoP from Broggok in Heroic Blood Furnace, at a 20% drop rate)
GlovesLife Bearer’s Gauntlets (BoP from the Reinforced Fel Iron Chest in Heroic Ramparts, after defeating Nazan and Vazruden, at a 20% drop rate)
WaistGirdle of Many Blessings (BoP from Rokmar the Crackler in Heroic Slave Pens, at a 16% drop rate)
LegsCassock of the Loyal (BoP from Hungarfen in Heroic Underbog, at a 15% drop rate)
FeetBoots of the Watchful Heart (BoP from Captain Skarloc in Heroic Old Hillsbrad Foothills, at a 16% drop rate)

I have most of the visible stuff (if I get the legs/dress it will cover the feet, and the gauntlets cover the bracers) which has me pretty stoked.  Even though I admired the look in only his half-Judgement gear, it wasn’t until I transmogged his new swords that I notice how he’s rocking the color purple more than Oprah did –

Which works great for me since I like the color purple.  But then I swapped out the scorpion mount –

… and made a slight adjustment with his flying mount –

and what you end up with is what all the cool orcs are going to be wearing this year.

Edit:  Saturday, January 7 2012 I knocked another piece off the list:

LegsCassock of the Loyal (BoP from Hungarfen in Heroic Underbog, at a 15% drop rate)

Herc makes this look good.

Patch 4.3 – Transmogrifying Is Addicting

I never thought I’d be “that guy”.

You know the guy I’m talking about.  I’m referring to that one person who is so vain and so worried about the appearance of their character that he’ll do all sorts of stupid, mindless things just to get that one piece of gear that looks “cool.”

Damn you Transmogrification.  Damn you for making me into that which I hate the most.

I’ve been people talking about getting their old Tier sets… wait, scratch that.  I’ve heard people talking about “mogging”, a completely fictional word that has caused a number of my brain cells to implode.  Anyway, I’ve heard people discussing how cool various tier sets look, but I’m not really into raiding so much.  Oh I probably could, but I just don’t need a piece of window dressing so bad that I’ll farm an instance repeatedly with a bunch of people, then have to roll on the one piece on the off-chance it drops.  Instead, I’ll farm something by myself, for myself, if I really want it so bad.  That’s how I roll, you see.

But never would I have thought that I’d be interested in farming Paladin gear for a Warrior.  What can I say, I like the Lucha Libre Helmet.  Luckily, this look-alike drops in a farmable zone.

For those of you who are like-minded (and possibly just a bit anti-social) who are interested in farming look-alikes of other classes teir sets, peep out Wowpedia for some assistance in that department.  However, if you’re one of those hard-core types and are planning to get your own tier set, Wowhead News had a great article on getting the various available tier sets.

I bet the RP sites are getting hits like crazy now that people are looking for different outfits.  Places like Warcraft Looks, Wow Fashionist. and The Visual Roleplay Gear List have listings of unique items and ideas, which is where I got the idea for the Helm above.  Also, another article from Wowhead News points out some unique-looking weapons.  Patch 4.3 will have people mogging all of –

I… I can’t believe I just used that word.  Damn you Transmogrification!
