TGIF – Warlords of Draenor Alpha Herbalism
As I stated before, one of the worst times to try and make gold is at the end of an expansion. However, one of the best times to make gold is at the beginning of the expansion. People will be rushing to level up their professions, so folks with gathering professions will be out in full force looking to take advantage of the lazy crafters who will buy up anything on the AH that will level up their profession of choice.
I am actually prepared for this. During one of my frequent bouts of insanity, I leveled a Blood Death Knight up to 60, gave him the Mining and Herbalism professions, then boosted him to 90 which maxed out both professions at 600. Once Warlords of Draenor goes live, my Blood DK will head out into the world looking for stones to dig and flowers to pick, and since he’s a Blood DK he’ll be unkillable. That’s money right there, money I’m hoping to line my pockets with.
As luck would have it, WTBGold has started doing some research into the various professions in WoD. He’s hit the alpha and started poking around, noting various changes and so on. He’s just getting his feet wet, but if this Herbalism Guide is any indication then this will be the channel to watch going forward.
TGIF – Skinning in Black Morass
Remember awhile back when I said that it was tough to make gold at the end of an expansion? Well, about that…
Selling gear and items can be tough. The only folks buying that are usually people who are gearing alts. However, those alts are going to have professions to level up. At this point, players have two options – pay $60 for a boost to Level 90 (which will max out the two primary professions and First Aid) (As long as the character is at least level 60 before the boost — Editor), or save sixty bones and hit the AH to buy mats for leveling it up the old fashioned way.
If you look on the AH, chances are you’ll see that the raw mats sell for more than the processed mats do. Ore is more valuable than bars, for example. Well Knothide Leather can be tough to come by, and people will need it. So if you want to make bank, and you have a sharp knife, and hate Gators, Black Morass in the Caverns of Time might be the place for you.
How to Level Mining in World of Warcraft
As I stated in a previous post, I just finished leveling Jewelcrafting to 600 (thanks to this site HERE) and that wasn’t very much fun. The frowns were caused mostly due to the fact that I couldn’t get the lower level materials. This meant two things – one, I needed a gatherer, and two, I could make some decent gold if I had a gatherer. I decided that I would start a new toon who would just be my gathering mule.
Gaining levels would be easy, so I’d have to make sure I kept my profession skills up to date. Luckily Tarou recently updated his profession videos. The man makes some great video guides. Check out his site HERE, and his mining video THERE (and by THERE I mean below).
Isle of Thunder – Patch 5.2
I’m a little slow. There I said it.
Patch 5.2 has been out for, well, a little while now but I’ve been busy doing mostly non-Patch5.2 stuff. Specifically I have been leveling Jewelcrafting on Herculano the DK. Seemed like the thing to do, since I was Exalted with the Cloud Serpent people which gave me access to the cool JC Panther mounts.
Leveling Jewelcrafting on a low pop server sucks so much ass. You can’t find low level mats, not even ore to prospect. And when you don’t have a miner to help with the process, well you just want to find a way to kick yourself in the balls and do it repeatedly, knowing it would be more fun than profession leveling. But perseverance (and server transferring a character with Mining) paid off, and Herc hit 600 JC.
Success!
So what’s with the Isle of Thunder that I’ve heard so much about…
I think I got the original quest at some point, the one that prompts you to go to the Isle of Thunder. But something got bugged somewhere, and the quest didn’t show up in my Quest log. Therefore I had no idea how to find the Isle of Thunder. As luck would have it, I found a Youtube video that showed me the way. Here it is, for those of you like me who are just a little behind. So watch, learn, and I’ll be back with some Death Knight updates soon!
Best Death Knight Professions in Patch 5.1
I have been embracing my self-appointed role of Death Knight fanboy to a disturbing degree as of late. I’m levelling multiple DK’s, which means I’m not only a masochist, but I’m visiting the Noxxic website quite a bit. Noxxic has some great class guides, which definitely helps me crank out every drop of awesome from my Death Knights without getting so frustrated that I start gargling drain cleaner. Since I mostly run solo grinding/levelling encounters, I don’t really need to be all that cutting edge. I can live with respectable. I’ll check out specs and rotations so that while I might not be great, I’m good enough.
But ever since my Alliance DK became a member of the expensive and exclusive Brawler’s Guild, I thought I should tweak him as much as possible to avoid getting my ass handed to me by swamp donkeys like Bruce.
Anyway, while giving the Noxxic site a good once over I noticed something I hadn’t seen before. They have actually gone and recommended the best Profession for your class spec. Now the concept of “best” is subjective, but so is getting your ass kicked when you don’t have to and therefore makes the section worth a look. The Blood spec professions were no surprise, but what they suggest as professions for Frost and Unholy really surprised me. I’m not sure if I’ll drop the gold to relearn my professions (unless I can use those professions to make my gold back), but here is what Noxxic recommends:
