The War Within: From 1 to 70 with Kraken Latte
Leveling alts. We’ve all been there. Logging into World of Warcraft, seeing your roster of half-finished characters, and realizing that, despite your best efforts, they’re still sitting in the mid-60s. Dragonflight came and went, but most of my alts? Never even reached 70.
Frustrating, right?
I stopped playing in April 2023 during the Dragonflight expansion. Life got busy, and the grind wore me down. Fast-forward to September 2024, and I decided to give The War Within a shot. Coming back to WoW, I didn’t want to waste time slogging through levels, especially with all the new content waiting to be explored.
That’s when I found Kraken Latte’s guide – “How I Level 1-70 Solo in 5-6hrs in The War Within.“

Leveling 50 to 60 in World of Warcraft – Fast!
When Kraken Latte posted this video, I was curious. There are plenty of videos out there touting the “fastest leveling route”, but many of them use cute little mechanic manipulations like taking advantage of Chromie time with a separate, low-level account. But this video was just straight-up solo leveling, picking good routes and sound strategies. I’ve used the advice from this video three times to get alts leveled up, and I was ready to just throw money at the problem rather than spend time leveling MORE characters! Instead, three more alts. Painless.
Honestly, I’m posting this on my blog so I can find it easier in case I need to level another alt. Hopefully, you can get some use out of it as well.
WoW Leveling in Patch 9.1.5
Yes, I still play World of Warcraft. It’s a mindless time sink for me. I’m what you’d call a “Filthy Casual.”
Well, I’m sure YOU wouldn’t call me that. You’re classy, and above that sort of thing.
That being said, I find it necessary to find resources to explain to me just what the Hell is changing with new game patches. Websites blather on and on, telling but not explaining. I’m certainly not going on social media to find out what is going on because that’s where people are, and people are terrible (not YOU of course. Again, you’re classy like that.)
But then where does one go for information without having to deal with people? TO THE YOUTUBES!
Dalaran Gaming came through with a good video explaining the quality of life things for those who might be trying to level a character through Shadowlands in Patch 9.1.5.
I was aware of some things (heirloom gear upgrades), but not of other (Torghast is actually useful for something? Really?)

WoW Leveling Pre-Shadowlands
Well here we are. The World (of Warcraft) has changed once again. Shadowlands is coming… eventually. But in the meantime, we as players can take this time to adapt to Patch 9.0. This means changes to class skills, talents, and dealing with the level squish from 120 to 50.
With the squish comes certain benefits. This might not be a bad time to level up some alts. By all accounts, leveling now is much quicker than before. Bellular (@BellularGaming on Twitter) over at Bellular Gaming cranked out this video to explain just what the Hell happened, how the Hell to level, and where the Hell to do it.
Needless to say, I’m looking forward to leveling a few more alts.

Fastest leveling 1 to 120 in World of Warcraft

With the 100% XP bonus being extended, now is the time to level up those alts. And, like an idiot, I decided that maybe I’d like to unlock the Mag’har Orc Heritage Armor, so I started a DK and decided to give it a go. Well thanks to the video below by FezzikGG, I went from 58-62 in about 45 minutes using a route I’d never taken before. I don’t know how long I’ll be able to stomach leveling yet ANOTHER character, but until I hit that wall and come to my senses I’ll see how far FezzikGG can take me.
