Best Garrison Buildings for Alts
Behind every great main there’s an army of alts being horribly neglected and abused.
Master Rokk here. Blizzard was kind enough to make the leveling process much less painful this time around. They also gave us little to do outside of raiding once we reached 100, other than knock the dust off an alt and start that ten level beating all over again. Sometimes, like a form of Stockholm Syndrome, the leveling abuse makes us more sympathetic to our secondary character. Next thing we know, that alt who used to be just a profession mule is suddenly kind of fun to play. Too bad our main is geared better, or has more garrison resources, or is just not ready to become an alt.
A proper garrison for an alt could alleviate a great deal of that.
SignsOfKelani created a video that outlines what he claims is the best garrison setup for alts. While there may be no right or wrong answer as far as garrisons go, this comes up with quite a few that seem right. So maybe there is a right answer. Let’s not get too in-depth into this. It’s for an alt. If the toon was worth that much forethought, they’d be a main.
If you’re going to have an army of second stringers, they don’t have to be geared as second stringers. Keep them ready, build their hopes up, and maybe one day they will be the character called up to run a heroic dungeon. Or raid. Or just be really geared for farming transmog gear and cloth from old content. But, like, do it really well.
WoD Skinning Guide
If there’s one thing that the Internet has taught me, it’s that skin sells.
Master Rokk here. It has been a month since Warlords of Draenor has gone live, and I’ve been looking around to find a decent way to make gold. Sure, there’s gold rewards for some of the follower missions and questing produces some cold currency. But a reliable market has yet to present itself. Crafted items are not panning out very often, unless they’re the epic items that can only be produced every 5-20 days. Professions have been a bust so far, and that is not a reference to the picture at the top of this post.
Mats seem to be the way to bring in coin. Gathering professions are more or less in the toilet, due to the mining/herb garden provided by the garrisons. That, plus the no-flying and nodes in the wild being in all sorts of terrible locations, and the double gathering professions one of the DK’s I roll with are pretty much useless.
What isn’t useless is skinning. Kill an animal, skin an animal, reap the rewards of its flesh. It sounds terrible, but the cha-ching sound when it sells is much more pleasing to the ear. And it sells very well.
JadePyrus created a video that points out a decent farming location for skins.
I’m going to give this a try in the next couple of days. It’s always great to find a good place for skin, especially if there isn’t a two drink minimum.
*cough*
TGIF – Dinosaur Pet and Mount Farming
While transmog farming doesn’t overly appeal to me, pet farming tends to be a little more enjoyable. I don’t know why. Maybe I’ve just gotten lucky when I’ve been hunting for companion/battle pets. But this one I had no idea about. In fact, I didn’t even know the Isle of Giants existed at all. I decided to take a trip there just to see what it looked like. (It looks like giants, genius — Editor)
Now the strategy was to kill the humanoid lizard men. Of course, once I got there and managed to aggro a few of the actual elite dinosaurs, I noticed I was picking up bones. Turns out that by killing dinos, you can actually get yourself a dinosaur mount of your very own. Not great for selling, but if you’re going to be on the island anyway it might not be a bad idea to take a shot at some of the other creatures that roam the land.
In conclusion: if you are on the Isle of Giants, KILL ALL THE THINGS!!1!
TGIF – Infinite Transmog Farming in AQ20
“I like my shit quick.” – New Jack, professional wrestler/gangster/bounty hunter/certified badass
I remember watching New Jack wrestle back in the ECW days. He was, and still is, a violent man. The halloween mask of scar tissue that he calls a forehead is a testament of the level of brutality he would take, just for the chance to dish it out.
How does that relate to World of Warcraft?
Like this – I hate transmog items. I like using them, but I hate farming transmog gear just to try and sell it. The money can be quite good, but expect items to sit up on the AH for a dog’s age. Watching transmog items sell is like watching snails screw. It takes forever to get the payoff.
If I’m going to put myself through the brutal grind of farming, I want it to be worth it. AQ20 has some of the more valuable transmog drops. Downside of that is that it’s a raid instance, which means long lockouts. But it doesn’t have to. Check out WTBGold’s video and see just how much farming brutality you can take.
I tried this recently and it works. You just have to make sure you don’t accidentally pull mobs that will start a chain reaction that results in bosses being pulled, locking you to the instance, preventing the reset, and going from an overall sweet experience to to “see you in a few days.”
TGIF – Zul’Farrak
Now this, this is a zone to farm.
Why? So many reasons. It’s a low level zone, you can pull the entire thing without aggroing the bosses, it’s a giant circle, it drops some rare jade transmog items that can sell for a few thousand gold (depending on your server economy of course).
Need I say more? Good. Now watch.
