So about that 2017

nye

It’s the end of the year. Literally, the end of the year. December 31, 2017.

As a blogger, this is when I’m supposed to talk about how great/poor my year was and how stoked I am for the next year. Everybody’s got ’em going up, so I should probably do the same. Since this is primarily a World of Warcraft blog, I’ll focus on that.

That about sums it up.

In 2017, I’m stoked/thankful for:

  • Going to Blizzcon. Seriously, I got to hang out with some cool people and meet awesome folks I normally would never have had the opportunity to see in person. I got to chat with Bajheera and Jen, shake hands with Reckles from WTB Gold, and have drinks with Thorn and Thyst from Lagging Balls. I even got to hang out with Pat Krane for a bit.
  • Order Hall Gold. Without this, I wouldn’t have been able to pay for my subscription and make some character changes. Between this and the Legion app, I’ve been able to “play” without even logging into WoW.

That’s pretty much it. Normally I would have tried to invent things in World of Warcraft to keep me interested, but there were more things outside the game that piqued my interest. I’ve lost interest with the whole storyline playing out in the game, and what’s coming in the next expansion is going to be more of the same.

What does that mean for 2018? Will I keep playing World of Warcraft? Of course I will. I’m still working on my Ironman Challenge character, and grinding out that gold. Depending on how my other interests develop, WoW may go on the backburner in order for my dreams to come true. Stuff like that.

Now for some motivation. Congrats, you survived 2017! Hope you have a great 2018!

Happy New Year!

RIP Ranissa

Another one bites the dust.

I’m 100% to blame for this one. I’d been leveling as a Prot Warrior since Level 10. I thought to myself, “I’m carrying around a decent two-hander, and I haven’t tried Arms since I switched to Prot. I wonder how it would do?”

Four mobs at almost an equal level as my Ironman, as a DPS build. That’s a recipe for RIP DERP status.  Dammit.

You live, and you learn. The lesson from this death was – If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Especially if you have a lapse of patience while you’re drinking your coffee.

This death didn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. What hurt the most was that she had made 2700g from selling drops and the small eggs for the WoW Christmas event.

Time to get back to it.
